***Important*** Computer Help Needed!

So we are getting rid of our computer and getting a laptop to take with us for our stay in Geneva. Any recommendations? I am going to mainly be using it for communicating with people at home via skype, school/internet, blogging and photo editing/digital scraping.
My current complaints are just that my computer now is slow when I have Photoshop running. That is about it. I am really not too picky about the computer other than it has to run as fast as possible. That is all I care about really.
I have been very tentativly looking at getting a Mac as well so if any of you out there use one or have used one let me know what you thought and if you would ever use one again.
This is totally the type of purchase that I always overthink and never come up with a good enough answer on my own so I thought I would ask for a bit of advice and help on the subject. Please, please, please, put in your two cents about the matter. Any advice will help me. Thanks!

I recommend a Dell laptop. The problem I see with a Mac is if you're not familiar with it, it may be frustrating to be out of the country trying to figure it out. Of course, I only buy Dell computers. They are worth every penny IMO! Good luck!

I love my Dell! I haven't had any problems with it, and Will has had one from work for several years and has liked his. On the other hand, my stepmom has a nice Mac, and I can see owning one of those as well. It really is nice if you do a lot of graphic type work.

Okay, we have always bought Dell computers, and we've had good luck. However, my sister just bought a Dell, and apparently they have outsources all the technical support to India. She has been struggling for three months to have a repair, and so far no luck. The language barrier is terribly frustrating, and no one will commit to help her with anything. She paid $200 to extend her warranty, and finally she just gave up and took it to a local computer dude and he fixed it and charged her $50, but it voided the $200 warranty, which did no good in the first place.

Good luck.
